Future Plans

The IPC plans to incorporate the following activities into its programme for 2003.

Personal Issues

  • Assist with the publicising of the single gateway for complaints through the Insolvency Service.
  • Analyse the statistics relating to personal debt, IVAs and bankruptcy and consider future enquiries.
  • A follow up meeting with the OFT to discuss the impact of the guidelines for Debt Management Companies and the results of their surveys.
  • Examine the Insolvency Rules under the Enterprise Act inasmuch as they affect the personal sector.
  • A further meeting with the new Accountant in Bankruptcy in Scotland to discuss Scottish perspectives.

Complaints

  • Meet ICAEW, ACCA and IPA again to examine actual complaints, in particular the nature and whether the same complaints are repeated, analyse the returns to the IS and make
recommendations for change as considered necessary.
  • Continue to meet business and personal sector representative organisations for their
    observations.

Voluntary Arrangements

  • Continue to be involved with the Voluntary Arrangement User Group.
  • Meet IPs and those groups that have a large involvement with VAs.

Ethical Issues

  • Consult with the new accountancy review bodies and the DTI Taskforce to discuss common ground.
  • Continue the rolling programme of meeting professional organisations with a direct interest in the work of the insolvency profession.
